The Who, what and why Of Crafting a presentation

Happy Tuesday!

Do you have a goal or an objective when you are giving a presentation? Are you trying to teach something, help to sway people’s opinion about a particular topic, or are you looking to solicit funds for your organization?

Having a clear goal when you are writing a speech or working on a presentation is very helpful. It keeps you on track and makes the presentation clear for your audience. I recently saw that to have answers to the following prompts of “Who, What and Why” can really help clarify the goals that you are hoping to achieve when you are speaking.

1. Who is the presentation for? You need to understand the knowledge and experience level of the people that you are presenting to.

2. What is the action you want someone to take? To approve a budget? To invest in your company? Come up with a clear action or objective that you want someone to take after listening to you.

3. And the Why is the benefit that your audience will get by doing what you are asking them to do.

Have these questions in mind the next time you are putting together a presentation.
